JUNE 2011

Runtt21 is currently flat out, like a lizard drinking, in development for the upcoming release of Macpup 525, and has posted a lovely new theme on his thread, so check it out.

sszindian has just released Cloud Puppy 1.0, which is based on Puppy 5.1. To find out more about Cloud Puppy, visit his forum thread.

Among other happenings, Tman has released Wary Tiny, which, at 81mb, is a slimmer version of Wary 5.1.1.Visit his thread for info and d/l link.
Tman is also the developer for Solid Pup

MARCH 2011

Puppyite has completely redesigned the PuppyLinux FAQ site.

CatDude is gradually uploading pre-version 1.0 Official Puppies to Puppylinux Stuff, so all who are interested will have access to them -- good job there, 'Dude.

JANUARY - FEBRUARY 2011

Puppyluvr and CatDude have been very busy lately, putting together a brilliant MULTI-PUP CD/DVD-CREATOR. This enables users to choose which of several Puppies they wish to boot from the one CD or DVD, with some nice boot-splash-screens, courtesy of CatDude - cool, huh? Check out the info and screenshots here.

   

WE can look forward to the imminent release of new versions of three popular puplets that i can think of, off the top of my head:

LEGACY OS from john biles, which should save many a technological dinosaur from extinction, whilst enabling reasonably speedy and reliable computing, with a comprehensive list of apps for everyday use included. Release is currently scheduled for around the end of February 2011. Click on the thumbnail to visit John's forum thread and for a larger image of the new desktop.

   

MACPUP 520 from runtt21 is soon to hit the servers at Macpup's web home. Runtt is testing at the moment and will release this Foxy Macpup when he's happy with the results. • Raffy's site - geared to older hardware with Breeezy for eeePC, miniPup and SafePup (for diskless PCs), + instructions on how to remaster your own puplet.


• Lobster's Wikka - identifying the whereabouts of the growing number of sites and resources in the Puppy web + other helpful or interesting items.


• The Pet Store - a very well-organised repository for Puppy Linux 3rd-party packages and miscellaneous library files, hosted by Guy Pearson (gposil on the forums)


• Saturn's Puppy Repo - another repository with many of the latest Puppy Linux pets and package files, in addition to some puplets, hosted by Saturn and Wolf_Pup


• Puppeee - web hangout of Puppeee, developed by Jemimah especially for the Asus eeePC. Jemimah is also the developer of Fluppy, (Fast and Light pUPPY), which includes more drivers and is more suitable for other laptops/netbooks than the eeePC


• Smokey01 - another file repository, supporting the PuppyLinux community with members' iso, .pet and miscellaneous Puppy files.


• PuppyLinux FAQs - a site consisting of a vast amount of information and how-to's on many aspects of Puppy.


• Pa Penguin's Icebox - Pa McClamrock's Linux info, (explained in non-geek language), IceWM Window Manager, the Tcl/Tk "WISH" programming language, and the Gnocl Tcl/GTK+ extension package, + useful links and Linux packages.


• Puppy search facility - a search engine for PuppyLinux


• Macpup - kennel for the growing litter of elegant E17 MacPuplets


• Hacao Linux - a Vietnamese adaptation, now also in English, so this Puppy's bi-lingual...it's also available for download on this site


• Succi Linux - a Brazilian Portuguese-language-only adaptation, developed by David Monteiro and Eric Viana...available for download here; they've experienced server and other difficulties but hope to be back online in the not-too-distant future....watch this space.


• Marcus Joo has created a PuppyLinux site, giving information and illustrated instructions in Portuguese for the deployment of Puppy. Check it out here.
• Puppy Linux 4.3.1JP - a Japanese version with 3 isos to choose from: Standard, Retro (with SCSI support) and SMP.


• Hungarian NOP - the Hungarian Puppy Linux community's variation on Gray's popular NOP puplet.
  They also have an XP-styled Hungarian-language puplet which runs on low-spec systems and includes WINE.


• And there's also Tubeguy's Puppy Linux merchandise site, where you can purchase a variety of Puppy-branded items, such as mugs, caps, t-shirts, fridge magnets, bumper stickers and even cool little doggie tees ;-) All proceeds help fund Barry K's PuppyLinux project.
